De tráfico de indocumentados

Los hermanos Fidel y Raúl Villareal, ex agentes de la patrulla fronteriza
fueron hallados culpables de traficar con personas por dinero, conspirar
para traficar personas para beneficio económico y lavado de dinero,
en una corte de San Diego.
Raúl Villareal era vocero de la patrulla fronteriza y según un informe de la
fiscalía federal, operaba junto con otras personas y Fidel, una red de
contrabando humano en la frontera Tijuana-San Diego.
Según los documentos de la corte, un tercer implicado en el juicio de
nombre Armando García, pasaba a la gente de manera ilegal por puntos
distintos a los puertos de entrada, para que posteriormente Raúl y
Fidel Villareal, quienes en ese entonces eran patrulleros de la frontera
recogieran a los indocumentados en sus vehículos oficiales ayudándolos
a completar su ilegal travesía, en lugar de detenerlos.
De acuerdo a un comunicado emitido por la fiscalía, esto ocurrió en
varias ocasiones durante los amos de 2005 y 2006.
El juicio de los agentes de la patrulla fronteriza, duró 5 semanas para
hallarlos culpables.
Una mujer de nombre, Claudia González, quien también pertenecía a
la banda de traficantes, ya se había declarado culpable en el 2009.
Claudia González, Armando García junto con Raúl y Fidel Villareal fueron
capturados en Tijuana, el 18 de octubre de 2008, después de que los
empleados federales cruzaran la frontera al sur para tratar de evadir a
las autoridades.
Posteriormente fueron trasladados a México para ser eventualmente
extraditados a la Unión americana el 12 de marzo de 2009.
Actualmente en San Diego otros agentes federales encargados de
proteger la frontera también están bajo proceso judicial en otro caso
separado. En este último los oficiales cobrarían hasta 15 mil dólares
por cruzar a personas indocumentados através de la garita de San
Ysidro a donde estaban asignados.
